00:01:03.027 --> 00:01:03.951
How are you doing today?
00:01:03.951 --> 00:01:05.359
I'm good, how are you?
00:01:06.081 --> 00:01:07.546
Lovely, except for this heat wave.
00:01:07.546 --> 00:01:10.962
I hope everybody's out there staying cool, because it's hot Hydrated.
00:01:10.962 --> 00:01:12.965
Af where we're at today.
00:01:12.965 --> 00:01:25.135
Today we're going to be digging into the murder of Leslie Houston, and I'm not sure where she was originally from, but when she had passed away she was around Anderson Indiana.
00:01:26.439 --> 00:01:27.260
Yes, she was.
00:01:27.260 --> 00:01:43.852
And last October of 2024, at approximately 9 pm, the Anderson Police Department got a 911 call to the Daughtery residence.
00:01:43.852 --> 00:01:48.742
Now, it was a call for medical assistance.
00:01:48.742 --> 00:02:00.546
So the Anderson Police, fire Department, the EMS they all arrived on scene and began performing CPR on the victim.
00:02:01.349 --> 00:02:03.960
Basically her boyfriend of seven years.
00:02:03.960 --> 00:02:05.828
They boyfriend of seven years, husband.
00:02:05.828 --> 00:02:06.751
Oh, they was married.
00:02:06.852 --> 00:02:07.033
Yeah.
00:02:07.400 --> 00:02:08.462
Of seven years.
00:02:08.462 --> 00:02:21.093
He had called 911 asking for the medical assistance, like you said, and he had said that he had got home from work and he had found Leslie, that she had fallen and broken her glass.
00:02:21.093 --> 00:02:26.701
He said he found her on the sleep on the floor and woke her up and she denied needing an ambulance.
00:02:26.902 --> 00:02:27.664
In the kitchen.
00:02:27.985 --> 00:02:28.526
In the kitchen.
00:02:28.526 --> 00:02:30.230
Wow that was weird.
00:02:30.230 --> 00:02:31.073
That is weird.
00:02:31.879 --> 00:02:45.919
Now in another conversation with an officer, Daughtery stated that the Anderson Police Department was just at their residence the evening prior for a welfare check on houston.
00:02:45.919 --> 00:03:01.304
So an internal records check, you know, corroborated that and the officer had responded at the request of houston's daughter.
00:03:01.304 --> 00:03:10.191
Now the officer got there and spoke with Mrs Houston who confirmed that she was okay, so the officer left the residence.
00:03:12.040 --> 00:03:15.889
Now the officer conducted an initial interview of Mr Daughtry.
00:03:15.889 --> 00:03:23.159
Daughtry had stated that he had came home from work and he found Houston sleeping on the floor covered with a sheet and her head on a pillow.
00:03:23.159 --> 00:03:25.322
Daughtry said that he later got her up, put her on the floor covered with a sheet and her head on a pillow.
00:03:25.322 --> 00:03:29.145
Daughtry said that he later got her up, put her on the couch and spoke with her.
00:03:29.145 --> 00:03:34.631
Later in the evening Daughtry said he heard what he thought was Houston vomiting on the couch.
00:03:34.631 --> 00:03:41.217
Daughtry stated that he went to the living room and found Houston and she had vomited on her arm.
00:03:41.217 --> 00:03:49.650
Daughtry stated he put her like on her side so she would be safe from her vomiting and called 911.
00:03:49.650 --> 00:03:52.715
He stated he attempted CPR while talking to dispatch.
00:03:52.715 --> 00:03:57.031
Daughtry denied any history of abuse between himself and Leslie.
00:03:58.221 --> 00:04:03.170
So, Houston, Leslie was transported to St Vincent Hospital.
00:04:03.170 --> 00:04:15.539
Leslie was transported to St Vincent Hospital and when she got there they did a CT scan and located a massive intracranial injury.
00:04:15.539 --> 00:04:27.036
A neurosurgical team in Indianapolis reviewed the findings of her CT scans and x-rays and all that stuff and concluded that her injuries were not survivable.
00:04:28.002 --> 00:04:29.608
So she was hurt pretty bad.
00:04:30.000 --> 00:04:30.824
Really bad.
00:04:30.824 --> 00:04:41.235
It was also noted that Houston had numerous bruises and other injuries, in different stages of healing, on her feet.
00:04:41.235 --> 00:04:53.492
On her feet on her arms, legs, neck, breast, which were consistent with intentional infliction of injury rather than an accidental cause.
00:04:53.973 --> 00:04:54.797
We see this a lot.
00:04:54.797 --> 00:05:12.812
When we're investigating stuff like this where there's been abuse to a victim, it seems like a lot of the times we see where they they find out that the victim has injuries in different stages of healing, like the abuse has been going on for a long time.
00:05:12.812 --> 00:05:17.211
They get, they get abused and then they're healing up for a little bit and they get abused again.
00:05:17.211 --> 00:05:19.601
So that's how they can kind of tell so why he?
00:05:20.744 --> 00:05:28.793
you know that if she's a victim of domestic violence, and it's him perpetrating it that he's going to know.
00:05:28.793 --> 00:05:31.456
She's got those bruises all over her body.
00:05:31.815 --> 00:05:32.317
Absolutely.
00:05:32.439 --> 00:05:33.605
So why lie about it?
00:05:33.605 --> 00:05:42.074
Because the extent and nature of the findings were consistent with domestic abuse and possibly strangulation.
00:05:42.074 --> 00:05:56.615
Houston also had acute alcohol intoxication as a result, and doctors expressed concern that Houston's injuries were the result of foul play.
00:05:57.180 --> 00:06:03.346
Acute alcohol intoxication means a little bit of intoxication, just like an acute triangle.
00:06:03.346 --> 00:06:09.266
I always made the difference of acute triangle and an obtuse triangle.
00:06:09.266 --> 00:06:13.382
The acute one was a cute little one, so it's always a little and obtuse is big.
00:06:13.382 --> 00:06:15.086
That makes sense to everybody.
00:06:15.086 --> 00:06:15.968
What a way to remember.
00:06:15.968 --> 00:06:20.204
I have a weird way of thinking about shit, but it works out for me.
00:06:20.204 --> 00:06:31.971
So at this point, with the injuries and various stages and they could tell that it was some foul play, maybe some abuse somewhere, they start interviewing people at the police department.
00:06:31.971 --> 00:06:39.687
Houston's daughter had played the detective a voicemail that she received from her mother 16 days before her hospitalization.
00:06:39.687 --> 00:06:48.894
In the voicemail, houston tells her daughter that she is done and that she has a head injury and is unable to take a shower.
00:06:48.894 --> 00:06:53.690
Houston tells her daughter that Daughtry has been hitting her and will continue to hit her.
00:06:53.690 --> 00:06:58.492
She states that she is ready to leave him and do the paperwork for a protective order.
00:06:58.492 --> 00:07:03.012
I bet her daughter was happy like thank God, because this has obviously been going on for a long time.
00:07:03.720 --> 00:07:08.149
Oh, you know she was, and I'm sure she was scared at the same time.
00:07:08.149 --> 00:07:23.656
Now, on October 12th 2024, medical staff at the hospital advised that Houston had a brain bleed, believed to be caused by blunt force trauma.
00:07:23.656 --> 00:07:29.310
But here's the problem there were no visible signs of injury to her head.
00:07:29.310 --> 00:07:32.449
So did this happen previously?
00:07:32.449 --> 00:07:40.050
And you know she's just been injured for a while and maybe the outside bruises have healed up in her head?
00:07:41.300 --> 00:07:46.091
So that probably stalled the investigation if there wasn't an obvious sign of trauma on her scalp?
00:07:46.091 --> 00:07:46.872
Is what they're saying.
00:07:48.682 --> 00:07:49.446
That's what I thought.
00:07:50.221 --> 00:08:05.680
So on 10-13-2024, the police obtained a search warrant for the residents of Anderson to collect Houston and Daughtry's cell phones, along with searching the residents for additional evidence of domestic violence, and to take photographs of Daughtry's persons.
00:08:05.680 --> 00:08:08.047
Means they probably made his ass stripped down.
00:08:08.047 --> 00:08:12.283
Take pictures of his whole body to see if there was any defense wounds on him.
00:08:13.125 --> 00:08:16.932
Or any other marks and scars and things of that nature.
00:08:16.932 --> 00:08:24.240
So Daughtry was located in his vehicle near 19th Street and Brown Street in Anderson.
00:08:24.240 --> 00:08:32.890
In his vehicle near 19th Street and Brown Street in Anderson the police advised Daughtry that there was a search warrant for the residence and collected his cell phone.
00:08:32.890 --> 00:08:38.893
The police proceeded to the residence and collected Houston's cell phone from the kitchen.
00:08:38.893 --> 00:08:44.491
The residence was then photographed and swabs of bloodstains were collected.
00:08:44.491 --> 00:08:48.971
Photographs were also taken of Daughtry's person.
00:08:48.971 --> 00:08:59.855
Now Daughtry had a small burn on his hand, a small scratch on his left and right shoulder and a small bruise in the small of his back.
00:08:59.855 --> 00:09:07.129
Now the officer conducted another interview with Daughtry.
00:09:07.129 --> 00:09:18.698
Now he was not in custody at this time, but what he was provided his Miranda warnings and he agreed openly to speak with them they was.
00:09:18.719 --> 00:09:26.663
They was getting ready to get his ass, though Daughtry he, like Julie, said he was not arrested at this time but they did write his rights.
00:09:26.663 --> 00:09:33.183
And Daughtry stated that him and Houston had been together for seven years but they were married for five years.
00:09:33.183 --> 00:09:39.066
Daughtry stated on 10, 11, 24, when he returned home from work he just found Houston sleeping.
00:09:39.066 --> 00:09:41.851
This is the same thing he said in his initial interview.
00:09:41.851 --> 00:09:48.390
Daughtry stated that he later felt her head for any kind of injury or bleeding and did not see or feel anything.
00:09:48.390 --> 00:09:51.965
He said he returned to his room and watched a couple of movies.
00:09:51.965 --> 00:09:58.229
When he heard choking sounds around 8 pm, went to the living room and saw Houston had vomited on herself.
00:09:58.229 --> 00:10:01.761
Daughtry stated that he placed her on her side and called 911.
00:10:02.183 --> 00:10:08.166
Daughtry attributed the bruising and injuries on Houston's body to her drinking and falling when she is drunk.
00:10:08.166 --> 00:10:12.543
Daughtry denied there was any history of domestic violence between them.
00:10:12.543 --> 00:10:15.831
So there's a little bit of difference in there in that interview.
00:10:15.831 --> 00:10:19.971
In the initial interview he didn't say anything about going and watching a couple of movies.
00:10:19.971 --> 00:10:22.724
A couple of movies is at the least four hours.
00:10:23.586 --> 00:10:29.335
Right, and then he outright denied a history of domestic abuse between them.
00:10:29.539 --> 00:10:31.667
As we're going to find out, that was some bullshit.
00:10:32.370 --> 00:10:37.811
Yeah, now Houston was taken off life support and pronounced dead.
00:10:37.811 --> 00:10:51.072
On the same date Daughtery signed a search waiver for his cell phone, like we just said, and he openly, you know, was willing and gave the passcode like oh, here you go, I have nothing to hide, putting on that kind of front.
00:10:51.072 --> 00:10:57.841
Houston and Daughtery's cell phones were both submitted and they were taken for forensic analysis.
00:10:59.562 --> 00:11:10.985
So on 10-21-24, they performed an autopsy of Houston at St Vincent's Hospital in Anderson by Dr Sean Swatkowski Damn, I'm glad I said that right.
00:11:10.985 --> 00:11:18.374
Houston was found to have scattered contusions and abrasions on her chest, upper and lower extremities and both feet.
00:11:18.374 --> 00:11:21.389
She also had an elevated level of ethanol.
00:11:21.389 --> 00:11:28.424
The doctor concluded the cause of death was intercranial hemorrhage and the manner of death was undetermined.
00:11:29.027 --> 00:11:30.210
So brain bleeding.
00:11:30.530 --> 00:11:36.275
Yeah, and at this point I think they're saying she got scratches on her feet, on her head, the toe.
00:11:36.275 --> 00:11:41.602
So at this point they didn't really know if maybe she had got drunk.
00:11:41.602 --> 00:11:48.148
And when they say she had acute, that means there was just a little bit of alcohol in her system.
00:11:48.148 --> 00:12:03.562
But they said that she had a highly elevated level of ethanol, which is basically the byproduct of alcohol after your body starts processing the alcohol.
00:12:03.562 --> 00:12:08.096
So it shows that she probably did drink a little bit.
00:12:08.264 --> 00:12:10.087
So it shows that she probably did drink a little bit.
00:12:10.087 --> 00:12:18.659
Now the police wanted to go around and conduct other interviews to try to get more information about, you know, what was really going on in the home.
00:12:18.659 --> 00:12:36.356
So they got a hold of Houston's father and he stated that he observed an instance of Daughtery battering Houston roughly about a year and a half prior to this last incident, while staying with Daughtry and Houston.
00:12:36.356 --> 00:12:39.144
He heard them arguing and he heard Houston gagging.
00:12:39.144 --> 00:12:47.033
He left his room and he saw Daughtry on top of Houston, choking her and hitting her head on the floor.
00:12:47.033 --> 00:12:53.041
So her father stated that he was able to get him off of her and stop the attack.
00:12:53.041 --> 00:13:03.534
He also mentions that he is very controlling of Houston and will listen to her phone calls and if she doesn't do what he wants, he also takes her cell phone away.
00:13:04.027 --> 00:13:12.148
Well, I don't know about you fathers out there, know about you fathers out there.
00:13:12.148 --> 00:13:14.914
I guess this Daughtry guy at the time being he is roughly about 48, 49, 50-ish.
00:13:14.914 --> 00:13:20.928
So we tried to do a little bit of digging but we couldn't find an exact age of Miss Houston.
00:13:20.928 --> 00:13:28.270
But you assume that they're at least around the same age, so her father is at least probably 20 or 30 years.
00:13:28.270 --> 00:13:29.715
It's a lot of speculation, folks.
00:13:29.845 --> 00:13:34.537
So Pavlina is mid-60s, early 70s something like that.
00:13:34.664 --> 00:13:43.535
But I'm telling you what, man, if I walked in and seen a dude on top of my daughter, I wouldn't care If I was 90, boy, I'd be grabbing something and fucking that dude up.
00:13:43.535 --> 00:13:46.907
Yeah, that would be hard for me to deal with.
00:13:46.907 --> 00:13:51.793
I have excellent son-in-laws, thank God.
00:13:51.793 --> 00:13:57.841
They also conducted an interview of Houston's uncle on 21025.
00:13:57.841 --> 00:14:04.682
He had stated that he had lived with Daughtry in Houston for about a year, near the end of 2022 and into 2023.
00:14:04.682 --> 00:14:10.716
He stated that he heard them arguing and Daughtry either punched or slapped Houston and pushed her to the floor.
00:14:10.716 --> 00:14:16.297
He said he observed some redness to the right side of her face and her glasses were knocked off.
00:14:16.904 --> 00:14:26.918
Approximately six months prior to Houston and Daughtry moving to the address, he saw Houston's arms bruised like someone had gripped them tightly and a bruise on Houston's neck.
00:14:26.918 --> 00:14:33.131
A few months prior to that, he saw some reddish bruising on Houston's face and her glasses were broken.
00:14:33.131 --> 00:14:39.014
He said that Daughtry is very controlling, he listens to her phone calls and they don't have many friends.
00:14:39.014 --> 00:14:45.597
He also stated that he took Daughtry to a motel one night and stayed with him so he could cool off.
00:14:45.597 --> 00:14:59.956
So everybody is seeing this shit typical domestic violence type thing, man, it's a lot of times people don't want to get in between a man and a woman because you know, I'll be honest, I did it one time a long time ago.
00:14:59.956 --> 00:15:05.572
I had a good friend that used to smack the shit out of his old lady all the time and it would aggravate me, you know what I mean.
00:15:05.572 --> 00:15:09.412
And I stood up one time and the wife ended up getting pissed off at me.
00:15:09.412 --> 00:15:12.437
So I was like nevermind, I'll never get into that shit again.
00:15:12.457 --> 00:15:14.568
But I guarantee you, he didn't do it no more again.
00:15:15.091 --> 00:15:15.753
Not around me.
00:15:15.753 --> 00:15:16.115
He didn't.
00:15:17.865 --> 00:15:32.225
Now the police also conducted an interview with another witness and he said that over the past three years he has seen injuries on Houston off and on when they lived on jackson street.
00:15:32.225 --> 00:15:39.626
He recalled seeing houston with a black eye and bruises on her arms like someone had been grabbing them.
00:15:39.626 --> 00:15:43.754
He has also seen some bruising on her neck.
00:15:43.754 --> 00:15:49.311
On another occasion, about one to two months prior to her death, at her residence.
00:15:49.311 --> 00:15:53.239
He saw saw Houston with a black eye and blue bruising.
00:15:53.239 --> 00:16:14.184
The witness said they got into an altercation with Daughtry about these injuries to Houston and then her daughter provided information that Daughtry and Houston had been in a relationship since February of 2019.
00:16:14.184 --> 00:16:23.200
And that Houston is and has been a victim of domestic violence for the majority of their relationship.
00:16:23.565 --> 00:16:31.572
So she'd been going through this shit probably the whole time they was together, except for the little honeymoon stage this shit, probably the whole time they was together except for the little honeymoon stage.
00:16:31.572 --> 00:16:38.690
The one of the witnesses also provided records of history of violence, including text messages between daughtry and houston.
00:16:38.690 --> 00:16:51.240
Additionally, the detective was informed by the witness that in january of 2024 houston had been admitted to saint Vincent's for injuries she sustained from daughtery.
00:16:51.725 --> 00:17:00.654
So he's been doing this for a minute, yeah so she was just in the hospital at the beginning of last year for this and we looked into that and we couldn't find where he was arrested for that.
00:17:01.066 --> 00:17:03.544
So she was keeping all this a secret.
00:17:03.544 --> 00:17:16.480
And yeah, that's why I initially went to go search for his to look in his packet, because I was like, well, if he's, there's all this domestic violence, surely he's caught a case for it.
00:17:16.480 --> 00:17:20.776
And there wasn't a case for domestic violence, but there was a big case.
00:17:21.204 --> 00:17:23.313
There's all kinds of cases, a bunch of shit.
00:17:23.313 --> 00:17:28.734
This dude been in the pen more times than the hog out back and more times than the hog out back.
00:17:28.734 --> 00:17:32.557
But they requested a warrant for John Daughtry white male.
00:17:32.557 --> 00:17:43.661
122, 1977, for the crime of murder for the injuries inflicted on or before October 15th 2024, which resulted in the death of Leslie Houston.
00:17:43.661 --> 00:17:51.946
It took him like five, six months from the time that she was in the hospital and passed away till the time that they arrested him.
00:17:51.946 --> 00:17:56.096
I'm glad they stayed on it, man, because anderson's a busy ass city.
00:17:56.096 --> 00:17:57.708
From what I've heard, and I.
00:17:58.169 --> 00:17:59.692
We had an employee that worked there.
00:17:59.771 --> 00:18:16.838
Shout out to kyle what's up call and our new patreon member kyle I guess anderson is pretty bad from what Mr Kyle has told me, like there's a lot of gang violence, a lot of drug dealing, a lot of just you know your big city shit.
00:18:16.838 --> 00:18:37.334
So a lot of times domestic batteries and stuff like that it kind of falls to the wayside, especially if you know months fall in between where they're investigating the death until the time that they actually get some solid evidence, because you know, in a town like that cases just keep coming up and keep coming up so shit gets pushed to the back sometimes.
00:18:37.334 --> 00:18:54.611
So you know, kudos to these detectives for staying on this dude's ass amen and getting it done within a year, because it's not easy so back in december or I mean mean September of 2010, daughtry gets arrested in Hamilton County, indiana, for some pretty heavy shit.
00:18:55.204 --> 00:19:03.134
He's charged with two Class B felonies armed robbery or robbery where someone gets hurt, and criminal confinement with a deadly weapon.
00:19:03.134 --> 00:19:17.673
This is a dude who's either brandishing a weapon or roughing somebody's ass up during a robbery, or maybe both Court records mentioned restitution to Duke Energy, so it might have been a hit on one of their properties.
00:19:17.673 --> 00:19:18.547
Bottom line.
00:19:18.547 --> 00:19:20.273
This was a serious violent crime.
00:19:20.273 --> 00:19:25.971
I wondered what the Duke Energy thing was, because they're usually big corporations and people call them and pay their bill with.
00:19:26.593 --> 00:19:27.876
You know their debit A car Right.
00:19:27.876 --> 00:19:29.305
Well, this was back in 2010.
00:19:29.305 --> 00:19:33.696
But armed robbery and holding someone against their will, that's intense shit, I mean.
00:19:34.404 --> 00:19:40.531
They were intensified to Class B felonies, which that's you know that's just right below murder, class A.
00:19:40.531 --> 00:19:48.586
And per usual, with a dude like this, daughtry cannot afford a lawyer, so he gets a public defender, dan Hinckley.
00:19:48.586 --> 00:19:55.757
The state tries to slap an habitual offender enhancement, which means he's got prior felonies on his record a big red flag.
00:19:55.757 --> 00:20:05.606
But instead of going to trial, he cuts a deal In November 2010,.
00:20:05.606 --> 00:20:07.229
He pleads guilty to the robbery charge.
00:20:07.229 --> 00:20:15.621
Down the sentence 14 years total, with 12 years to serve in the Indiana Department of Correction and two years suspended to probation.
00:20:15.621 --> 00:20:22.858
He gets credit for 120 days already spent in jail and this sentence has to run consecutive to two other cases.
00:20:22.858 --> 00:20:24.671
So it's a long road ahead.
00:20:25.224 --> 00:20:28.113
And consecutive meaning one right after the other.
00:20:28.232 --> 00:20:29.876
Yes, just like that, Not at the same time yep.
00:20:30.886 --> 00:20:41.044
So with good time credits and the 120 days he'd already served, he is out by early 2018.
00:20:41.044 --> 00:20:43.086
So about eight years total.
00:20:43.086 --> 00:20:50.420
That's that's a almost a decade for an armed robbery by someone with prior felonies.
00:20:50.420 --> 00:20:54.125
You'd expect the system to keep him locked up longer.
00:20:54.746 --> 00:21:06.659
I wonder if the habitual thing, if they didn't find all they needed to keep that charge on, or if that was another plea bargain deal where they didn't want to take the whole deal to trial for whatever he did to Duke Energy.
00:21:06.659 --> 00:21:08.429
So it was just like one of those things.
00:21:08.429 --> 00:21:11.277
I will drop this, plead guilty to this.
00:21:11.277 --> 00:21:15.454
You know we could give you X amount of years but plead guilty to this and blah, blah, blah.
00:21:15.454 --> 00:21:16.297
The same old story.
00:21:16.297 --> 00:21:24.859
So by late 2018, just months after getting out he's in hot water for violating his probation conditions.
00:21:24.859 --> 00:21:29.154
He admits to it, the court sends him back to prison for just 94 days.
00:21:29.154 --> 00:21:35.776
Then in early 2019, he violates again and all he gets is a nine month extension on his probation.
00:21:35.776 --> 00:21:37.465
So no added jail time there.
00:21:37.705 --> 00:21:59.491
Well, it's funny because the 94 days he had already spent 47 of those 94 days in like county jail, so he just had to go for the that short amount of time and then he wasn't even out a month before he violated probation again that's why they sent seemed to 94 days in prison because he'd done 47.
00:21:59.592 --> 00:22:01.936
So 47 times 2 would be 94.
00:22:01.936 --> 00:22:04.730
So they're like okay, time served on that one.
00:22:04.730 --> 00:22:06.174
Go on, get your ass back out.
00:22:06.194 --> 00:22:11.910
There, be good you would think, for someone with a record like this, like how does that even happen?
00:22:12.049 --> 00:22:29.959
you, you would think a violent, a habitual violent offender, um would have harsher consequences you would think that somebody that just got out doing eight to ten years in prison would be walking the fucking line or on the tight leash.
00:22:30.724 --> 00:22:34.476
Obviously the dude was institutionalized or he didn't learn very quick.
00:22:34.476 --> 00:22:37.371
So the court had him.
00:22:37.371 --> 00:22:41.909
They had a shot on him to keep a tighter leash on him or to lock him up a little longer, but they didn't.
00:22:41.909 --> 00:22:48.333
Maybe it was the plea deal, maybe the jails were full, maybe they thought he could still turn his life around.
00:22:48.333 --> 00:22:52.695
But when you look at his record it's hard to justify going easy on the dude.
00:22:52.695 --> 00:22:57.971
I mean, these jails in some of these Indiana counties are so full man, they have to pick and choose.
00:22:57.971 --> 00:23:00.244
You know who they're keeping and who they're not.
00:23:00.265 --> 00:23:01.788
They're like keeping the worst of the worst.
00:23:01.807 --> 00:23:08.400
Yeah, I would hate to have that job of being able to being the one to have to say well, we're full.
00:23:08.400 --> 00:23:22.356
So we let this dude, this dude and this dude out, because I think they may be rehabilitated or their crime this time wasn't near as bad as what it was, and then my luck could be the dude I let out that go fucking beat his old lady up and kill her.
00:23:23.365 --> 00:23:27.625
And then that's got to be way heavy on judges and prosecutors.
00:23:27.765 --> 00:23:29.391
Oh you know it does, it has to.
00:23:30.173 --> 00:23:30.836
Absolutely.
00:23:30.836 --> 00:23:35.636
Now you mentioned that habitual offender enhancement in the 2010 case.
00:23:35.636 --> 00:23:40.565
What's up with that and what else is on his record before the robbery?
00:23:41.145 --> 00:23:46.798
Well before the 2010 robbery, Daughtry had already done multiple time for multiple felonies.
00:23:46.798 --> 00:23:51.536
In 2001, he served about a year year and a half for theft.
00:23:51.536 --> 00:23:54.811
In 2002, he got two years for forgery.
00:23:54.811 --> 00:24:00.468
In 2006, he was hit with almost six years for another forgery charge.
00:24:00.468 --> 00:24:04.401
So by 2010, he's got three felony convictions under his belt.
00:24:04.401 --> 00:24:08.349
That's why the state pushed for the habitual offender charge enhancement.
00:24:08.349 --> 00:24:13.318
It's a tool to add extra years to the sentence for people who just won't stop breaking the law.
00:24:13.806 --> 00:24:19.478
So he had been to prison four times before.
00:24:21.105 --> 00:24:23.209
Yes, four times, literally in prison.
00:24:23.209 --> 00:24:29.119
Not just 30 days in the county jail, not just this, literally DOC number.
00:24:29.119 --> 00:24:30.017
That means you get a prison number.
00:24:30.017 --> 00:24:30.968
That means you get a prison number.
00:24:30.968 --> 00:24:32.071
That means you go to prison.
